This Privacy Policy describes how But Why? Gymnastics ("we", "us", or "our") collects, uses, and protects information when you use the But Why? Gymnastics mobile application (the "App").
When you create an account, we collect your name and email address. You may sign in using Google Sign-In or Apple Sign-In, in which case we receive your name and email from those providers.
When you upload a video for review, the video file is stored securely on Amazon Web Services (AWS S3). We also collect metadata you provide: athlete name, event (Vault, Bars, Beam, or Floor), and competition level.
Videos you upload are stored securely and are used solely to provide the judging review service — specifically, to enable certified judges to review and annotate your video. Your videos are never shared with third parties, sold, licensed to others, or used for any purpose beyond delivering the review you requested. Videos are visible only to you and the judge assigned to your video.
Judges create timestamped annotations on your videos, including deduction type, amount, and written or voice-transcribed explanations. These are stored in our database and made available to you through the App.
Messages sent between parents and judges through the in-app chat are stored in our database.
Subscription and payment processing is handled by Stripe. We do not store your credit card details. Stripe's privacy policy is available at stripe.com/privacy.
We collect push notification tokens to send you alerts when a review is ready. We do not collect device identifiers for advertising purposes.
We do not sell your personal information. We share data only with the following third-party service providers as necessary to operate the App:
Videos you upload are visible only to you and the judge assigned to review them. They are not shared with any third parties beyond storage providers.
We retain your videos and account data for as long as your account is active. You may request deletion of your account and associated data at any time by contacting us at support. Deleted data is purged within 30 days.
The App is intended for use by parents and guardians. We do not knowingly collect personal information directly from children under 13. Videos may depict athletes under 13, uploaded by their parent or guardian who is the account holder.
We use industry-standard security practices including encrypted data transmission (HTTPS/TLS), secure token-based authentication, and access controls to protect your data.
You may request access to, correction of, or deletion of your personal data at any time. Contact us at support and we will respond within 30 days.
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify you of significant changes via the App or by email. Continued use of the App after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
